For as long as we have had two kids, they have had a shared room. I believe sharing a room is really good for kids. And since we have a two bedroom apartment, there isn’t really another option.
A little while ago Rachel Denbow from A Beautiful Mess shared her kid’s co-ed bedroom and some tips for creating a shared space for kids. And Mandi over at Vintage Revivals wrote a great post about Decorating A Kids Room That You Both Will Like… They had great tips and ideas. And thank goodness! Decorating a kids space is hard. Making the kids (in our case a boy and a girl!) happy and living with whatever you’ve done… Oy.
But I spent a weekend working on Jude and Avi’s shared bedroom and I love how it turned out! And I can’t wait to share it with you!
I only spent $40 on this room overhaul. That’s it! A lot of our furniture is from Freecycle, generous friends, and the rest is local thrift stores. Most of the art was DIY, repurposed or printed from various websites. A few pieces are from friends or my talented sister. And that amazing black and white art above the bunk bed is a kid art piece! So is the ABC art. And I tried my first shot at engineer prints (ps, love them! Use this tutorial from Chris Loves Julia). But enough about that stuff, here are the pictures!
