Can you believe it?! In just a few short weeks we will all be stuffing our faces with all sorts of delicious food and then finding a corner of carpet to nap on.
Right now our church is going through a series on thankfulness. I’m sure this is something a lot of churches do this time of year. It’s a fine time of year to be counting our blessing and reminding ourselves that we really do have it pretty good. The other night I challenged myself to write a list of anything that popped into my head that I was grateful for. I ended up having to cut my brain off and close my journal because it was getting late and I had already filled up 5 pages. I tend to go through life on autopilot sometimes and I really do forget to recognize the many blessings that have been giving to me by my Creator.
One of the verses we are focusing on in church through this series on thankfulness is 1 Thessalonians 5:18. The verse says “Give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” As our pastor read this verse aloud I was struck by inspiration. I sketched out a simple version of this verse for our living room chalkboard. I wanted it to be in plain sight. I wanted to see it everyday and be reminded to actually stop and give thanks to Jesus for everything. Even in the midsts of laundry and spilled juice and screaming children, I want to be reminded to give thanks for the small things and the big things. For salvation and for the clothes we have to wear.
I wanted to share my chalkboard with you and hope that you are reminded (as I need to be) to count your blessings this season and everyday. I also wanted to share some other really cute and cheerful Thanksgiving chalkboards so that you can create your own personal chalkboard art for the season.
‘Tis the Thanksgiving chalkboard season!
Be inspired to be crafty and thankful.
Go get dusty and make some chalk art!
